Second testimonial of the current edition of the fifa master

It seems hard to believe that we are already in our last few weeks in Leicester, and nearly one third of the way through the FIFA Master. Since Dan’s update on the first six weeks, the cracking pace of the course has not slowed.

We have moved from the Origins of Sport onto the Internationalisation of Sport, learning about some of the many tensions and complexities associated with international sport, and all prepared short presentations of sport in our own country to be presented to the class. We have had many speakers from varied backgrounds in sport, including from FIFA, the Premiere League, and very informative and interesting visits to Manchester City FC, Lord’s Cricket Ground, Twickenham and Leicester FC.

Next came the Communications module, where we have learnt about media relations, public affairs, campaigning, crisis management and even spent time in front of the camera interviewing each other as well as in mock press conferences being heckled by classmates moonlighting as journalists.

In between all of this came a week focused on research methods in preparation for the final projects. As the first stage of the course comes to a close we are spending time finalising the selection of a topic for the final project; a priority before we enjoy the Christmas dinner party and the end of term will be upon us. Leicester has been an adventure, with lots of people taking the opportunity to explore the UK on the long weekends. We are all looking forward to the new challenges and experiences the Bocconi module and living in Milan will bring.
