FIFA MASTER ALUMNI – WHERE ARE THEY NOW? – MUHAMMAD FEIZAL SIDAT

Muhammad Feizal Sidat

Current Position: CAF Club Licensing Manager

Year of graduation: 2015 (15th Edition)

Nationality: Mozambique

What does your current role involve?

Currently I am working at the Confederation of African Football “CAF” and my role is CAF Club Licensing Manager.

The Club Licensing system is a regulatory framework that sets out standards and criteria by which African football clubs are assessed and is then used as a basis for the continuous improvement of many aspects of football. Therefore, my primary role is to ensure the proper implementation and development of the club licensing system at the continental level as well as monitoring its implementation at a national level by the federations.

My role also involves a vast range of activities linked with a very close relationship with the Member Associations of CAF, serving as the contact point for and sharing expertise with the licensing departments of the CAF member associations. Organizing and coordinating activities such as courses, seminars and workshops, assisting the federations with any necessary documentation, conducting spot-checks to verify that the minimum requirements defined in the core process are respected by the federations, and conducting assessments and audits to verify whether licensed applicants have fulfilled quality standards according to the club licensing criteria described in the CAF regulations.

In addition, the club licensing department at CAF is also responsible for monitoring and conducting the homologation process of stadia infrastructure for CAF competitions, making sure that the game is played in quality infrastructure.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

One of the highlights in my view is that the course provides you with a solid base and understanding of sports administration, from the historical aspects to administrative matters and also legal aspects. This set up has made me more aware of the various areas that the sports industry covers, making me understand that it is not only about the game on the pitch, but that it is much more than that, and involves different areas and functions of an organization.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

The FIFA Master is a unique educational platform that will change your view of the sports industry. Therefore, my advice is that as a student you should take as much out of your studies as possible in terms of gathering knowledge and information about the general organization and structure of this very specific industry.
