FIFA MASTER ALUMNI - WHERE ARE THEY NOW? - RUGGERO RAYMO

Ruggero Raymo

Current Position: Global Sales Sponsorships at AC Milan

Year of graduation: 2017 (17th edition)

Nationality: Swiss & Italian

What does your current role involve?

My current role as a member of the Global Sales Sponsorships team of AC Milan entitles in identifying and sourcing potential global sponsorships opportunities. I develop and engineer dedicated partnership proposals that places brands at the center of one of the most iconic club. Our partnerships are collaborations between leading brands that work together towards a common vision and tackles key objectives from both parties. In addition to spearheading business development, I supervise the process in person from establishing the first contact, hosting meetings, developing and issuing head of terms and review contracts until the signatures. Once a contract is signed, my responsibilities consists in ensuring a smooth transition of the sponsor to the partnership team that will be managing and activating the contracted rights across the partnership term.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

Coming from a Business Management background without any contracting and law experience, I can without any doubt admit that the Neuchâtel module helped me the most. The few months in Neuchatel taught me new aspects of the sports industry that I apply in every contract I need to review. Furthermore, all the modules helped me in a way or another, although the most meaningful aspect of the course were certainly my classmates and their backgrounds. In fact, I acquired the most knowledge from learning from their previous professional experiences. The course amplified my skills and knowledge, but the people made me grow as a person. I had the chance to live, study and nowadays even work with inspiring people from all over the world with whom I created lifelong friendships. The combination of all these facets are the key ingredients to obtain a role within the sports industry.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

If I could give one crucial advice it would be to stay focused on the course without worrying too much about what happens after the degree. Try to make the most out of the present and certainly don’t be competitive, but there for each other, as a team you will succeed. Share knowledge and opportunities with each other. All of you will be the future of the sporting industry. To conclude, if you don’t land your dream job straightaway don’t lose hope, work hard, believe in it, be up to date with the latest trends within the industry and you will get there at one point.
