FIFA MASTER ALUMNI - WHERE ARE THEY NOW? - AMIR KHOSRAVI

Amir Khosravi

Current Position: Deputy General Secretary, Iran Football Federation

Year of graduation: 2018 (18th edition)

Nationality: Iranian

What does your current role involve?

I have been working at the Iran Football Federation since 2009. The Federation is the governing body of football in the country with 18 national teams - including both men and women’s football. The FA is also in charge of football development in the country.

As Deputy General Secretary I am in charge of the daily communications of the FA with different national and international bodies which are in line with the FA strategy and roadmap. The other major area of concentration in my position is to help with the administrative aspects of the FA and ensure these responsibilities are fulfilled properly. Ultimately, the national teams will then experience a smooth preparation phase for their future achievements.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

Every aspect of the FIFA Master was a fruitful and life-changing experience for me.

To be able to study together with classmates from different countries around the globe and understand each other when working in groups helped me so much to change my views about working with people from different backgrounds. At the same time, the course content comprising of the Humanities of Sport, Management and Law were so profitable for me.

It was a unique and unforgettable experience to be part of the course, with the benefits continuing even after graduation thanks to the FIFA Master Alumni Network where I acted as a Committee Member for three years. To be able to connect with so many alumni members who are now working in key roles at top international sports organizations and associations is a huge asset for the course.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

I would advise them to enjoy each and every moment of the FIFA Master and to make the most of the togetherness you will have with your classmates and the people you will meet during your studies. The course with its design and flow will definitely boost your own personal and professional attitude to sport and also to life too, so focus on these details both in class and during field visits.

I would also advise them to get involved and volunteer - where possible outside of lecture time - with the other activities available in each country of their residence during the course to not only get out of the studying ‘bubble’ but also to learn and explore the different cultures and customs of the countries they will live in during the FIFA Master.

FIFA Master - International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, ranked No.1 Course in Europe 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 by the SportBusiness International global rankings.

Organised by CIES in partnership with De Montfort University (United Kingdom), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland).
