What does your current role involve?

Since my arrival at San Fernando Club Deportivo S.A.D, I have been Director of Operations, General Manager and now President. I have additionally been entrusted with handling the recent takeover and transition process at the club.

My current role at the club, once the structure was defined, is to set its short, medium and long-term objectives, as well as supervising the execution of operations, monitoring business development and defining the guidelines for any football decisions. I also still execute my duties of General Manager and participate in the daily life of the club.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

The Law module in Neuchâtel and Sports Management module in Milan have proven to be decisive in helping to build my profile for the position I now occupy. On another note, the Leicester Humanities of Sport module, and the various field visits during our studies in England, really gave me an insight into how to implement innovation yet respecting the values of tradition at the same time.

Finally, and to highlight the wealth and value of the programme, the knowledge I gained from my classmates still represents to this day one of my greatest lessons. I was lucky to participate in an edition where all of the candidates had incredible previous experience in football and/or sport management. It is thanks to sharing experiences with them that I've grown to become who I am today.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

Enjoy building friendships with the special people that surround you. Don't be too demanding on yourself, and always be keen on learning from lectures, guest speakers and field visits, no matter what your previous experience is. Also, don't be afraid to add your input and share your experiences. This is how the FIFA Master will keep being the great experience which it is.

Finally, there is a "before" and an "after" to the FIFA Master, but just make sure to live the "during" to the fullest!
