Jean Eunhye Lee

Current Position: Manager, Digital Projects at Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy – Qatar 2022™

What does your current role involve?

As Manager, Digital projects under the Marketing and Events division at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the Host Country entity for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, my primary function is to manage YouTube channel activities from the overall strategy to content planning. Our vision is to create a digital space for the audience to visually explore the host country; focusing on the fan journey through Qatar 2022™ curated brand hero films, to how-to videos to promote, inspire and guide the audience each step of the way on their journey to Qatar, ultimately, in an effort to lift the overall brand of Qatar 2022™.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

Prior to starting the FIFA Master, my experience was mostly in advertising that marketed directly to consumers or in sports with a more regional focus. Therefore, the course helped me to consolidate my experience with a broader perspective and gain a deeper understanding of sport. Each module offered me new knowledge and skills that are crucial to the industry, supported by various guest speakers. My existing knowledge was challenged with different points of view and, as a class, we would often continue to discuss themes from our lectures long after teaching had finished for the day.

There were 32 individuals with 28 different nationalities in my class. As a group we were as equally diverse in our backgrounds and interests, but we were all united in our love of sport. This was the greatest learning and gift, not only to help me in my career, but much more than that. I remain in daily awe of the achievements of my classmates since graduation. Also, the support and passion provided by the members of the FIFA Master Alumni Association (FMA) has been invaluable as we build our careers in the sports industry.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

The FIFA Master goes by quickly, in a blink of an eye! Embrace it all with an open-mind and insatiable curiosity. But also remember to pause for a second or two to celebrate each moment. One of my most cherished moments during the course was playing football with my classmates and bonding over our mutual love for the beautiful game. The course will offer you various sporting and cultural perspectives, along with different ways of working, as you are in a class with people from all continents. 31 of my classmates can attest that it will be one of your best years of your life. As the year goes on, you will want to hug each other harder and hang on longer!
