50 new graduates in Spain

Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) and the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) recently celebrated the graduation of 50 students from the 5th edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management organised in Spain. The ceremony took place in the impressive surroundings of the City of Football (Ciudad del Fútbol) in Las Rozas near Madrid.

Over the years, the FIFA/CIES Programme has become a reference point in the field of sport management in Spain. Indeed, hundreds of students have had the opportunity to acquire broad knowledge during classes given by well-known lecturers. Furthermore, international experts in various areas, such as crisis management, event organisation, law and the professionalisation of sport, for example, have shared their experiences with participants from both Spain and overseas.

During the closing ceremony, the speakers emphasised the excellent relationships that unite URJC, RFEF and CIES: “It is a dynamic and motivating relationship of cooperation which allows us to train the next generation of managers who are competent and conscious of their responsibilities”, said Jorge Pérez, RFEF General Secretary.

After having received their diplomas, the students had the opportunity to listen to the well-known sports journalist Jésus Álvarez. He captivated the audience by revealing some unknown aspects of his profession and illustrated his presentation with various anecdotes from his long career.

Finally, Francisco Rubio, the course academic director, welcomed the 50 students who started the 6th edition of the Programme on the same day.
