A Day at the Heart of World Football: The 19th Edition Class of the FIFA Master Visits the FIFA Headquarters in Zürich.

Each year, the FIFA Master - International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport class has the opportunity to visit the Home of FIFA in Zurich for what is one of the most important field visits of the academic year. This is indeed a key moment in the life of each edition, as it allows students to listen to talks from senior FIFA personnel and Alumni of the Master at one of the most important international sporting federations in the world.

For the current 19th edition FIFA Master class, Friday the 5th April 2019 is a date they will remember for a long time as they had the pleasure and honour to be welcomed by FIFA Deputy Secretary General, Zvonimir Boban who gave an inspiring speech about his personal vision for the future of football.

Mr Boban also awarded the FIFA/CIES International University Network Prize to four students of the 14th edition of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management organised in Argentina in cooperation with the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) for their outstanding project work untitled: “Development Plan for Football and the Women’s League in Argentina”.

The FIFA Master, which was first launched in 2000, is now firmly established as one of the world’s leading sport management courses. Our strong reputation is thanks to a stimulating mix of both theoretical teaching and practical case studies. Our postgraduate programme offers a large number of field visits throughout the three modules to prestigious sporting organisations such as FIFA, the IOC, UCI, FEI, UEFA, the All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon, Manchester City FCLeicester City FCManchester United FC, FC Internazionale Milano, etc. This allows for a unique industry-based learning process complementing the classroom experience, which has proved to be highly effective, especially in terms of professional skills development. The yearly visit to FIFA perfectly embodies this innovative approach.

The day ended with a visit of the FIFA Museum in downtown Zürich that was followed by a joint evening dinner with FIFA staff and Alumni of the Master.

The International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) and the course organisers would like to warmly thank FIFA for hosting the 19th edition class in such a welcoming way and for making the visit such a special day.
