ARRIVING, BONDING, EXPERIENCING

Three weeks have passed since the twenty-seven people that were honored to be selected as part of the 23rd edition of the FIFA Master met each other on the corridors, flats, or the lobby of the student residence that we now call home at De Montfort University, in Leicester, England. And we have already changed.

The various feelings of excitement, fear of uncertainty, and hopefulness that came with us to England, the first stop of our almost year-long adventure, have somewhat dissipated. Maybe even evolved.

Why? Because this experience, one that promotes friendship, open-mindedness, and adaptation to a great extent, is based on growing. Not just professionally, but personally.

The days here in Leicester fly by. We will be in Milan in a flash. But we, as a group, can advocate for a bonding process to brag about.

We understood in record-time that despite whatever cultural differences may exist, we are all the same. We are in this together. That is also a plus of this academically prestigious programme. It could even be THE plus.

The international meals, the night outings, the football games, the weekend trips… All those experiences are as valuable as the lectures and field visits we have had so far. Hugs and laughter are as important as note-taking.

Three weeks have passed since the twenty-seven of us first met each other. And we already unanimously agree that this will be an unforgettable ride.  “The best year of our lives”, as members of the Alumnae have constantly repeated to us. 

We can’t wait for what comes next.

As of 3rd October 2022 the CIES has officially opened the application process for the 24th edition (2023-2024) of the FIFA Master.
