CIES WEBINAR SEASON 3 - EP #4: " THE GLOBALIZATION OF MAJOR SPORTS EVENTS "

CIES webinars: Let’s Connect and Think Together

We are delighted to announce Season 3 Ep#4 of our Free Live CIES WEBINAR Series!

The latest episode is entitled “The Globalisation of Major Sports Events” and will be streamed live this Wednesday, 29th June 2022 at 14h CEST.

The 21st century has seen a notable expansion of major sporting events into new markets, such as the first FIFA World Cup in the African continent in 2010, the first Olympic Games in South America in 2016, multiple recent Olympic and Para Games in Asia in 2018, 2020 and 2022, and soon the first FIFA World Cup in the Arab world, with Qatar 2022. In addition, we will soon see the FIFA Women’s World Cup travel to Australia and New Zealand in 2023. Other sports, such as basketball are also entering new markets, as well as various youth football competitions too.

To discuss this recent trend and to provide both a professional and academic perspective, we have invited two exceptionally qualified panellists:

- Nicholas Rozenberg, Director of Business Affairs and Strategy at FIFA, and 2014 FIFA Master graduate.

- Pr. Pierre Lanfranchi, Scientific General Coordinator for the CIES International University Network, Professor of Sports History and FIFA Master Co-Scientific Director at De Montfort University.

The webinar will be moderated by Tanya Heimlich-Ng Yuen, Partner and Senior Director at BCW Switzerland. Tanya is also a 2009 FIFA Master graduate.

The session is free to attend and your participation is very much appreciated. Please make sure to leave any comments and questions during the webinar.

You can watch it LIVE on our CIES Youtube Channel.

For anyone who missed the 3rd episode of the series, “Beyond the Pitch: Supporting the Full Lives of Athletes”, it is now available on our CIES YouTube channel by following this link.
