FIFA/CIES Executive Programme: Successful study tour to Peru

The study tours organised as part of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme at the initiative of the Universidad San Martín de Porres (USMP) in Lima are increasingly successful.

After a Peruvian delegation's trip to Brazil for the Copa America 2019 in June, some 30 students from Chile, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela travelled to Peru last week to experience the 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Lima Games.

During their stay, participants visited the sports facilities of the USMP's Club Deportivo and participated in conferences organized at the university's Business School on topics related to the strategic planning of a first division football club and its minor categories, the Pan American/Parapan American Games and the legacy of major sporting events. They also attended the competitions, including those held at the VTM Hockey Field and Callao Sport Center (volleyball).

Sherlan Cabralis, Academic Director of the UWI/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Trinidad and Tobago, commented: "Our trip to Peru was a great opportunity to "learn by experiment". We were able to see in a concrete way what was discussed in class. I think this kind of initiative is beneficial to students. I can't wait for the next study trip in 2020! »

Like their Brazilian colleagues a few weeks earlier, Daniel Valera, Director of theUSMP/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme, Marco Navarro, Programme Coordinator, and Sebastian Rubio, CIES Local Coordinator, organized this study tour with professionalism and enthusiasm. "What a pleasure to receive delegations from Chile, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela! We were happy to welcome them to Lima to attend a major sporting event and to share their knowledge with the realities on the ground. These study tours are becoming increasingly important in the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme curriculum."
