NMMU: Some leave and some arrive….

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) officially gave diplomas to the 18 students who participated in the 8th edition of the NMMU/FIFA/CIES Programme in South Africa last week. The university also welcomed the 28 new students who will attend classes until July 2016

Masterfully orchestrated by Vernon Oosthuizen, the opening and closing ceremonies once again showed the convivial and positive atmosphere that NMMU has contributed to the Programme over the past eight years.

The graduates celebrated their success in the presence of numerous guests and family members. Among them, Ricardo Trade, former CEO of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 and General Secretary of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation. He travelled to Port Elizabeth to share his views on the legacy of the 2014 World Cup and the new governance structure for volleyball in his country.

It is worth noting that all students from the 2015 edition passed their exams and project group presentations successfully.

After the official speeches, David Matinise Toni thanked NMMU for its excellent Programme as well as for the caring and teaching qualities of its staff: “This year at NMMU has transformed us. Thank you to the professors and the organisers. Also, thank you to my classmates, with whom I could share so many experiences, laughs and moments of true friendship.”

CIES wishes to thank NMMU for its excellent  cooperation and its long-lasting commitment to the Programme and especially Victor Exner, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences , as well as Khaya Matiso, Rosa Du Randt, Vernon Oosthuizen, Denver Hendricks, Debbie Derry, Daryl Newton, Gavin Hustler, John Burger, Gail Halforty and Buhlebethu Shane Dumbu for their work.
