Peru: A FIFA/CIES Executive Programme alumnus is now working for the Instituto Peruano del Deporte

We were very pleased to hear that Diego Montoya, an alumnus of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme organised in cooperation with Universidad de San Martín de Porres (USMP), is now working for the Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD).

Diego Montoya, who attended the USMP/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in 2015, is an advisor in sports law and management issues at the IPD, which is the equivalent of a Ministry of Sports in Peru.

Diego acknowledges that Peruvian sport is booming: "National sport is growing exponentially at all levels. This trend will continue and increase with the participation of our national football team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, the organisation of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in our country in 2019, not to mention the XVIII Pan American Games and Parapan American Games in Lima in 2019. For our nation, these are major challenges involving sports management. We will meet those challenges with enthusiasm."

Regarding education and training, Diego adds: "These developments provide great opportunities for Peruvian sports managers both today and in the future. As far as I am concerned, the USMP/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme, which gave me access to essential knowledge, also gave new impetus to my career. It allowed me to work for the Peruvian Football Federation and now for the IPD. It is a great pleasure to cooperate with such organisations who are investing massively to support new generations of athletes and sports managers in our country."

We extend our warmest congratulations to Diego and have no doubt that he will make a significant contribution to Peruvian sport.
