Premier League Champions Visit for 17th Edition Class

The current 17th edition class of the International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport - the “FIFA Master” had the chance to see the Premier League Trophy this week during a special field visit to the reigning Premier League Champions - Leicester City FC.

The course has a long association with the Foxes, as for over 16 years course students have had the privilege to visit the club as part of their studies during the Humanities of Sport module which is delivered in the city by the International Centre for Sports History and Culture at De Montfort University. However, this was the first time a class had been lucky enough to see the Premier League Trophy at the King Power Stadium as the club famously won the title as 5000-1 outsiders last season and for the first time in their 132 year history.

The visit included the opportunity to meet with the official club historian, take a full tour of the King Power Stadium, view the state of the art press area, home and away dressing rooms, technical areas and VIP lounges. A detailed overview of how the stadium pitch is prepared was also kindly provided by the head groundsman. The afternoon concluded with a question and answer session with one of the Club Directors on how the Foxes continue to grow as a global brand and how they are now adapting to life in the Champions League. Indeed, with only Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Leicester City still the only unbeaten teams in the Champions League group stages, this is clearly a challenge the club is responding to with impressive style!

The 17th edition class, academic team at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture and the CIES in Switzerland who provide overall course co-ordination, would all like to extend their sincere thanks to Leicester City FC for making this visit possible and also for their continued support. The Foxes have fans across the world from our international alumni network who all followed last season with pride.
