Three students implement their group project in Mexico!

The group project “#EllasTambiénJugan“ (#TheyAlsoPlay), presented by three students who attended the 2015 edition of the UCA/FIFA/CIES Executive Certificate in sport management will not stay on the shelf. Thanks to the vitality and enthusiasm of its creators, the project has been concretely implemented following discussions with Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

Rodrigo Sadurni (Mexico), Bruno Rostán (Uruguay) and Mateo Palma (Argentina) devoted their group project “#EllasTambiénJugan” to promoting gender equality through women’s football. The project advocates that federations, clubs and other sports entities join the “HeForShe” campaign initiated by UN Women. The goal of the campaign is “to engage men and boys as agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women’s rights, by encouraging them to take action against inequalities faced by women and girls”.

The three alumni contacted Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City who showed interest in developing the project. It will be implemented, in particular, by means of a conference on women’s football organised by the university in connection with “HerForShe”, with the participation of representatives of the Mexican Football Federation, amongst others.

Moreover, “#EllasTambiénJugan” aims to organise competitions and debates allowing women involved in football to share their experiences. The idea is to encourage all women to leave stereotypes behind and to practise this sport.

Rodrigo emphasises the importance of the UCA/FIFA/CIES Executive Certificate in the design and preparation of the project: “The Certificate is a complete training programme supported by experts who are very involved in the world of sport. Their great experience allowed us to discover and better understand the sports industry. I came from Mexico to attend classes and am very satisfied with the knowledge I gained and delighted with my classmates with whom I shared special moments.”

All our congratulations to Rodrigo, Bruno and Mateo for their initiatives aimed at implementing their very promising project.
