The International Centre for Sports Studies Hosts International Sports Conference on the 19th July 2012

On 19th July 2012, the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) will welcome representatives from the sports industry to Neuchâtel, Switzerland for its annual ‘FIFA Master Conference’. This year’s conference marks the 12th anniversary of the FIFA Master programme.

Ranked as the leading postgraduate sports management course in Europe by SportBusiness International , CIES will welcome the sports industry to a one-day international conference. Taking place on Thursday 19th July from 9.30-15.30 at the Hôtel Beaulac in Neuchâtel, the conference showcases the scientific contributions that this year’s FIFA Master graduates have made to the sports industry through their final projects. The conference is free to attend and open to everyone working in sport.

Organised by the International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) and endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the FIFA Master was created to promote management education within the sports world. It has developed to become a top graduate programme forming all-round managers who can cope with the increasingly complex world of sport.

The FIFA Master is a leading programme within the sports industry and has now over 300 graduates working in sports around the world. The strength of the alumni is reflected by the 4th biennial FIFA Master Alumni gathering which will take place in London, UK as part of the 2012 Olympic Games activities. Every two years, alumni meet to share experiences and discuss the future of the alumni association. The next gathering is scheduled to take place during the 2014 FIFA Worldcup in Brazil.

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) is an independent study centre located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It was created in 1995 as a joint venture between the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the University of Neuchâtel and the City and State of Neuchâtel.

Using a multi-disciplinary approach, CIES provides research, top-level education programmes and consulting services to the sports world, with the aim of understanding the complexities of sport in today’s society and improving how it is governed and managed across all sports. As an international centre, CIES has a qualified and diversified staff and continually expands its partnerships with individuals, universities and sports organisations around the globe.
