A FIFA/CIES sport management Programme alumnus from UCA is now working at FIFA headquarters

Felipe Restrepo, who participated in the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management organised in partnership with Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) in Buenos Aires, started working at the FIFA Competitions Division in December 2013.

Felipe hails from Colombia. He attended the FIFA/CIES sport management Programme in 2007. The semester of studies in Argentina was particularly rewarding: “Participating in the UCA/FIFA/CIES Programme was an enriching experience. The course offers a unique opportunity to consolidate academic knowledge thanks to the variety of content, the excellent level of teaching staff and speakers and the passion of students and teachers for sport. I have excellent memories of my classmates, of the teaching staff and of the organisers who all showed great professionalism and outstanding human qualities.”

After successfully completing the Programme, Felipe Restrepo was appointed legal advisor at the Colombian Football Federation, at a time when the preparatory work for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, Colombia 2011, was beginning. He also served as competitions director in the Local Organising Committee. Felipe then took part in the FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 2010 and in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013.

Since December 2013, Felipe is with the FIFA Competitions Division, more precisely in the department in charge of Olympic events, the Club World Cup and the U-20 World Cup. The “icing on the cake” is that he will soon be going to the Porto Alegre headquarters for the next World Cup! In conclusion: “The Programme played a fundamental role in my career. I am proud to belong to the UCA/FIFA/CIES Community.”
