All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon, visit for 17th edition class

The world famous All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, was the venue for the first field visit to be made by the 17th edition International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport (‘FIFA Master’) class.

During a busy day, the newly arrived class had the opportunity to tour the All England Club grounds, learn about the history and evolution of the Wimbledon Championships and the wider sporting influence of former legends of the Championships such as Suzanne Lenglen. Later the postgraduates had the opportunity to visit the iconic Centre Court where so many memorable moments of tennis drama have unfolded each English summer.

The afternoon provided the chance to tour the collection of exhibits held in the state-of-the-art Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. The 17th edition, who have now started their studies in the first Humanities of Sport module at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture, De Montfort University, were also able to learn about the business and marketing aspects of the Wimbledon Championships in a series of presentations by the All England Club.

The CIES and De Montfort University would both like to take this opportunity to thank the All England Club for such an enjoyable and informative day for the new 17th edition class and for making everybody feel so welcome. It was the perfect start to the new academic year.
