The 16th edition class of the International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport (FIFA Master) had a truly memorable overnight visit to Manchester City FC in November. A comprehensive programme of guest speakers and the chance to learn more about the state of the art City Football Academy (CFA) awaited the class on their arrival. During a busy two-days of presentations by senior club representatives, the class were able to learn more about various aspects of the City Football Group business including Estates Development, Legal Affairs, PR, Communications, Stadium Sales, Operations, Grounds Maintenance, Strength and Conditioning and First Team Accommodation Facilities. There was also an opportunity to meet with course alumnus Alexander Staehelin who is now an Infrastructure Commercial manager at the club.
During the Monday evening the class also had the chance to play a thrilling match against club staff on one of the CFA pitches. In blustery conditions we are pleased to report that the 16th edition class team put in a very organised performance and were able to claim an impressive 5 – 3 victory!
Class representatives Cameron Angus and Shalini Krishnan said, “This visit was particularly memorable due to the outstanding hospitality and presentations we received, not to mention our first football match (and win!) against the Manchester City staff team.”
