CIES and GZ Gerencia Deportiva Internacional renewed their partnership for a further two-year period on 25 April in Zurich. Thanks to this partnership, GZ will continue to provide financial support to the FIFA/CIES programme in sport management organised in cooperation with Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET) in Caracas.
As an innovator in the field of sport management in Venezuela, GZ – and its brand GDI - has supported the FIFA/CIES Programme for four years now. The company has therefore made it possible for dozens of students to acquire fundamental sport management skills.
“Our mission is to help sports organisations (federations, leagues, clubs and other entities) in our country to become more professional. Sport can no longer be managed ‘with a piecemeal approach’. Venezuela needs capable and dynamic managers who are aware of what is happening at international level. By renewing our alliance with UNIMET and CIES, we intend to continue our work in favour of national sport, to change mentalities and sharpen skills”, said GZ President Dr Ingrid Hernández.
CIES President Bertrand Reeb paid tribute to this long-term partnership, commenting: “We have every reason to be delighted with the support that GZ and GDI have offered us in the last four years. They play a pioneering role by favouring training and education in an area - sport management – that, in too many cases, is still ‘empirical’. This is an example to be followed!”
The 5th edition of the UNIMET/FIFA/CIES Programme will begin in September 2014.
