Closing ceremony of the 3rd FIFA/CIES Programme in Venezuela

Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET), a CIES partner since 2010, organised the closing ceremony of the 3rd edition of the FIFA/CIES programme in sports management at the beginning of July in the main hall of its continuing education, development and consultancy centre (CENDECO) in Caracas.

Twenty-four students from different professional and sporting backgrounds were awarded their diplomas by the University Rector, Professor Benjamin Scharifker, who declared: “For three years now, our cooperation with CIES has shown very positive results in our country where, like elsewhere, sound and efficient management of sports entities is an absolute necessity”.

For his part, the CIES representative mentioned that UNIMET is an excellent partner from an academic viewpoint, both dynamic and motivated, who has unfailingly supported the programme. He also emphasised the essential role played by Ingrid and Mario Hernández Cova, who financed the first three editions of the Programme in Venezuela through their company GDI (Gestión Deportiva Internacional): “It is gratifying to see that private entrepreneurs understand the importance of training a new generation of sports managers and play a role as driving forces and pioneers”.

Two Programme students then described the positive aspects of the partnership between UNIMET and CIES, under the auspices of FIFA. For them, this cooperation contributes to the development of modern sports management in Venezuela.

The day after the closing ceremony, UNIMET and CIES started interviewing the many candidates for the 4th edition of the Programme which will start in September. The interviews conducted by Margarita Echeverria from Costa Rica, CAS arbitrator and FIFA consultant, took place in a constructive and convivial atmosphere.

CIES wishes the new graduates all the best for their professional careers and warmly congratulates: Mariángel, Manuel Alejandro, Thomas Alejandro, William Octavio, José Antonio, Ludmila Mercedes, Halley Mariant, Rodolfo Andrés, Javier Andrés, Benjamín José Moisés, Jean Piero, Dionel Alexander, David Rafael, Joaly del Valle, Andrea, Alejandro David, Gabriel Alejandro, Josman Antonio, Alfredo Rafael, Jesús Alberto, Rodolfo Jesús, Fabiola Beatriz, Daniel Natan and Jesús José.
