Aayush Dabas

Current Position: Sponsor Relations – International Cricket Council

Year of graduation: 2015

Nationality: Indian

What does your current role involve?

I work in the commercial department at the ICC as part of the Sponsorship & Licensing team where I work closely with ICC partners to help them activate their rights around our events. At ICC, we have an average of 2-3 events every year which keeps the partners busy with activations in different markets globally. I ensure that all their rights are delivered both on-ground & digitally, at the same time also help them plan marketing campaigns using ICC as an asset.

I also work closely with the sales team to look at potential new partners & how we can target them with a flexible set of rights. Key in today’s world is to be flexible & work closely with the partners to determine the package which works best for their objectives.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

Experience gained from interacting with classmates from different regions & alumni network helped a lot to get a better understanding on the global sporting landscape. Just listening to different opportunities & challenges across different sports/nations was an eye opener.

The alumni network is a big asset of this program where the community is closely knit & ready to help each other out when required. I have formed lot of close friendships thanks to this course & even after 5 years of graduating, still closely in touch with quite a few batchmates & alumni.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

Spend as much as time possible with your classmates & try learning more by listening to experiences from different people. You will get access to some good lectures, field visits but in the end the relationships you create with classmates/professors/alumni will be the ones which will hold you in good stead for the future.

Do not hesitate to ask questions & challenge the status quo wherever possible.  Lot of times in this industry your fundamentals will be questioned but standing up to them in challenging times is what will count.
