What does your current role involve?

My current position within the tournament’s organisational structure is as Strategy and Analysis Director, reporting directly to the CEO. I basically have the privilege to interact with senior management and stakeholders on a daily basis to provide support for issue resolution or information dissemination on strategic items that impact more than one functional area. Not a single day resembles the other and with around 60 days to go to the tournament, we can all feel the excitement building up to the greatest football tournament just around the corner and taking place for the first time in the middle east. I am definitely proud to be part of this historic achievement

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

The FIFA Master course was one of the main factors which has allowed me to be where I am today. The course provided me with the necessary tools and knowledge to hit the ground running in an environment driven by passion rather than profit. For example, the Humanities module of the course in England allowed me to trace back to the origins of sport and to understand its wider impact on society from a cultural perspective. The Management module in Italy was an easier transition as I had the previous banking experience, but financial metrics don’t take into account the passion which plays such a huge role in sport. The Sports Law module in Switzerland then really helped me to build a systematic approach to that area of work.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

Be open minded and enjoy every single second because you are about to embark on an incredible adventure. You will have the best year of your life in terms of learning, experiencing new things, interacting with different cultures and meeting with your new FIFA Master family. For my part, this was one of the best things that ever happened to me from an academic, professional and even personal standpoint as I made friends for life and have wonderful memories of the course. I am sure this will be the same for you too!
