FIFA/CIES University Network: Karol Tatar joins the Polish Football Association

We were very pleased to receive news that Karol Tatar, an alumnus from the KU/FIFA/CIES Programme in Sports Management, has been appointed to the “Sponsorship and Marketing” division of the Polish Football Association (PFA). This Programme is taught in Warsaw in cooperation with Kozminski University and “PGE Narodowy” stadium.

Karol Tatar, who attended the second edition of the KU/FIFA/CIES Programme, has always wanted to work for the Polish Football Association: “I am delighted to hold this position, and even more so now that the Polish national team has just risen to fifth position in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking!”

However, Karol is also aware of the great responsibilities he will now have to undertake: “I am responsible for managing the Official Licensing Programme. This involves cooperating with partners wishing to use the image of the players and trademarks of the Polish Football Association. I also provide support to my team wishing to implement sponsorship agreements. For example, my job involves planning and designing sponsor promotion in VIP sections of stadiums during European Qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia or monitoring sponsors’ exposure during First League or Polish Cup matches.”

Concerning the FIFA/CIES Programme organised by Kozminski University and “PGE Narodowy” stadium, Karol explains how he benefited from the curriculum. He said, “Taking part in this Programme allowed me to meet interesting people and to discover practical cases linked to the sports industry. I also studied intellectual property rights and the fundamentals of sports law. Among the best moments, I can mention the workshop devoted to “Scouting and talent development in sport” moderated by Colin Chambers and Kamil Potrykus from the International Professional Scouting Organization. And also the classes taught by Professor Pawel Mielcarz who succeeded in getting us to understand the ’incomprehensible mysteries’ of financial accounts… There is no doubt that the curriculum helped me to gain self-confidence and to be better prepared to tackle my new duties within the Polish Football Association.”
