Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi launches the first FIFA/CIES Programme

Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (PSUAD), as the academic partner of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), has just opened the registration process for the 1st edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management organised in the United Arab Emirates. Classes will start in September 2014. The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) has played an essential role in implementing this project.

PSUAD, ADSC and CIES are delighted to officially launch registrations for the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management intended not only for students from the United Arab Emirates, but also for participants from Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

This Programme was created in 2004. It has allowed some 2000 students from different professional backgrounds to become familiar with fundamental tools in the field of sport management (law, management, communication, sport event management, marketing, sponsorship and finance) and to attend conferences given by international experts on various aspects of sport today. The Programme is currently organised in 15 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela). It is open to all sporting activities and offers a curriculum combining theory and practical examples.

Student testimonials confirm the strong points of the FIFA/CIES Programme. To quote Iakavos Vazaios (Argentina, 2013): « The Programme was excellent. What made the difference? The people I had the opportunity to meet during classes. Without a shadow of a doubt, the Programme taught me a lot and was very useful. The teachers are top-level experts who succeeded in sharing their knowledge and experience with talent. I recommend the Programme because it offers comprehensive training which covers not only professional and sporting fields, but also human aspects. »

Solomon Mudege (South Africa, 2007), another alumnus who is currently working at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, comments: « I would definitely recommend the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management It is a unique course which promotes good management principles while recognising the distinctive environment within the nation in which the course is offered. »

Application deadline: 29 May 2014
