Welcome to the new 2012-2013 FIFA Master Class!

Great Britain’s summer of sport continued in September with the arrival of the new 2012-2013 FIFA Master class. Following the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, attention switched to De Montfort University in Leicester for the start of what will be a demanding academic journey for this new class.

Thirty carefully selected international postgraduates were welcomed by the CIES President Mr Bertrand Reeb, CIES Director and Chair of the London 2012 Co-ordination Commission Professor Denis Oswald and representatives from the FIFA Master Scientific Committee during a special ceremony held at De Montfort University’s Trinity Chapel.

Organised by the Centre International d’Etude du Sport (CIES) and endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the FIFA Master has over a decade of experience in educating and promoting the international sports business managers of the future.

The new 2012-2013 class will be based in England at De Montfort University’s International Centre for Sports History and Culture until Christmas as they complete the Humanities of Sport module. They will then move to Italy to begin their studies in Sports Management at SDA Bocconi School of Management before moving to Switzerland for the final Sports Law module at the Université de Neuchâtel Law Faculty.

The highly intensive programme, which was recently ranked the leading postgraduate sports management course in Europe by Sport Business International, will include field visits to some of the biggest names in world sport and a wide range of specially selected industry experts. Lectures are delivered by leading academics in their specific area of study.

With over 90% of FIFA Master graduates now working in sport and for organisations that include the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), United Arab Emirates Football League (UFL), European Rugby Cup (ERC) and the Sauber Formula 1 Team, the impact of the FIFA Master reaches across all continents and all sports.

The CIES, De Montfort University, SDA Bocconi School of Management and Université de Neuchâtel congratulate all thirty members of the new class for gaining a place on the FIFA Master programme and wish you every success as you continue your studies.
