The IOC's Olympic Games Associate Director, Pierre Ducrey, returns to class at the University of Neuchâtel

Professor Denis Oswald, who is Director of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) and an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board Member, was joined by FIFA Master 3rd Edition alumni Pierre Ducrey for guest lectures at the University of Neuchâtel. These special sessions were part of the Events and Liabilities sub-module within the final Sports Law Module of the FIFA Master course.
The morning session started with Professor Oswald's lecture on the legal aspects of sporting events. After a brief presentation on the various categories of sporting events and an overview of the legal role of the actors and partners involved, Pierre Ducrey spoke on the various reforms which have been implemented within the framework of the Olympic 2020 Agenda, and specifically with regards to the bidding and hosting processes of the Olympic Games. The current 18th Edition FIFA Master students then had the chance to contribute to an interesting discussion on the opportunities and challenges linked to the organisation of the modern Olympic Games.
For the afternoon session, John Pullicino, who is Senior Legal Counsel at FIFA, joined the class to give a lecture on the legal organisational aspects of the FIFA World Cup. In this fascinating session, Mr Pullicino covered in precise detail the timeline of the bidding process from the preparation, bidding, evaluation, and appointment stages of the process, to the final hosting stage.
The CIES would like to thank both Pierre Ducrey and John Pullicino for contributing such important guest lectures within the FIFA Master Sports Law module this year.
