WISE: The International Convention for Careers in Sport - May 7-8 2014

WISE, the first ever International Convention for Careers in Sports releases its attractive Forum programme.
Lausanne, Switzerland, February 12, 2014 – The Forum programme of “WISE – Work In Sports Exhibition” is well underway and we are pleased to release the preliminary list of topics. Split over two days (May 7 and 8), attractive panels around “Continuing Education”, “Human Resources”, “Excellence in Reconversion”, “Governance in Sports” and “Communication” in sports among others will be presented.
A motivational speech from WISE Ambassador Colin Jackson, Athletics Legend & Sports Media Professional, will welcome all participants on the first day.
Vincent Schatzmann, General Secretary, CIES and Thomas Junod, Education and Universities Manager, UEFA will be leading a panel of discussions with other speakers from AISTS, Cruyff Institute and RIOU (Russian International Olympic University) about the several educational programmes developed in recent years by schools and universities in order to cover the needs of qualified people in the sports industry.
Whereas the specificities of Human Resources management in sports at large scale will be introduced by the HR Heads of the strongest stakeholders in sports nowadays : Fabienne Müller, FIFA, Xavier Tissières, IOC and Julien Baehni, UEFA.
To discuss “Excellence in Reconversion”, WISE Ambassador Claudia Bokel, Olympic Medallist in fencing and recently re-elected Chair of IOC’s Athletes Commission, will be moderating a round-table of exceptional former athletes such as also WISE Ambassador Sergei Aschwanden, Olympic Medallist in Judo & Sport Manager, Juan-Carlos Holgado, Event Director, World Archery & Former Olympian, Makan Dioumassi, Retired Professional Basketball Player & Olympic Medallist and Colin Jackson.

Additionally a selection of attractive workshops in different disciplines as for example “”Work in Football”, “Work in Athletics”, “Work in Basketball”, “Work in Archery”, etc. will be presented.
On the evening of May 6, there will be an opening night presented by CIES (International Centre for Sports Studies) including sport industry celebrities as well as local politicians. The main topic of this event will be related to “The Heritage of Big Sports Events”, with an outstanding panel of speakers that will be announced shortly.
A second Gala Night will be organised on May 7, where awards in different categories such as sport sciences, best event organiser, innovation in sport, etc. will be presented under the eye of Christophe Dubi, IOC Sports Director, who will be doing opening remarks on the theme “The IOC’s support to the athletes in career transition”.
Both events will be concluded by a cocktail with the aim to connect all people interested in careers in sports and its industry and develop a strong network of expertise.
WISE is a two-day event to be held at MCH Beaulieu Lausanne SA in Switzerland on May 7-8, 2014. It offers a 360° sharing platform to leaders of today and tomorrow, as well as active and former athletes entering the business world.
