Master in
SPORTS LAW

ABOUT THE Master
in sports law

Since 2005, the University of Neuchâtel, with the support of CIES, has offered a dedicated Master in Sports Law which allows students to complete their traditional law background with a specific Master related to sports legal matters and develop their understanding of this complex area.

This Master offers an in-depth training in the field of sports law by dealing with all the legal issues raised by the practice of sports, such as the status of sportsmen and women, doping, sponsorship, contracts in the field of sports, international sports organisations and dispute resolution.

This programme is intended for students interested in working in a law firm specializing in sports law, a national or international organisation linked to the world of sports, or the organizing committee of a major event. At the end of the course, students will be familiar with all areas where sport requires a specific legal approach and knowledge. They are thus able to understand and solve the increasingly complex problems encountered in the world of modern sports, which require a specialized training in this field.

Lectures are delivered by top professors based at the University of Neuchâtel, who are also established law practitioners. The teaching staff is composed by Prof. Madalina Diaconu, Prof. Sébastien Besson, Prof. Antonio Rigozzi, Dr. Yann Hafner and Dr Matthieu Perruchoud completed by guest speakers.

This course is offered solely in French.

Students are to be registered with the University of Neuchâtel to attend classes and apply for the Master exams. Registration is open exclusively at the registration office of the University of Neuchâtel. No registration at CIES.
