The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) and the Universidad de San Martín de Porres (USMP), its academic partner in Peru, have just signed a memorandum of understanding with the Peruvian Institute of Sport (Instituto Peruano del Deporte – IPD).

The main objective of this memorandum is to establish a framework for cooperation, particularly in the academic sphere, between the three institutions in order to strengthen capacities in sports management in the context of the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

José Antonio Chang Escobedo, Rector of USMP, Sergio Ludeña Visalot, President of the IPD, Daniel Valera, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Human Resources at USMP, César Legrand Muente, Secretary General of the IPD, Marco Navarro, Director of the USMP/FIFA/CIES International Programme, and Vincent Monnier, Head of the FIFA/CIES International University Network, attended the signing.

During informal discussions, as well as at the official signing ceremony, all parties  emphasised the importance of training for the development of sport in Peru which, like many other countries, faces numerous challenges linked to the rapid evolution of the sporting landscape and the  emergence of new technologies.

We are delighted with this tripartite collaboration and are convinced that it will be a success  before, during and after the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
