Loic Ravenel holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Avignon (France) and a “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” from the University of Franche-Comté (France). He has been lecturer in geography at the universities of Caen and Franche-Comté, where his work focused on the geography of sport and the use of spatial information systems. In 2005, he co-founded with Raffaele Poli the Football Observartory and, within the CIES, Loic's main functions are related to this data sciences project. He is still involved in a number of postgraduate courses in sports management and data science.
