Spain: Seminar on investment funds in football

Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), an academic partner of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) since 2010, will organise a seminar on the theme of investment funds in football (Third Party Ownership) on 11 May 2015 in Madrid, in cooperation with the Madrid College of Lawyers (sports law section).
The economic crisis in Spain has also impacted professional sport. Faced with this situation, new forms of financing have appeared with the objective of allowing clubs to stay competitive and maintain their chances of success. Although “Third Party Ownership” brings new capital to sport, it also raises legal and ethical issues for various stakeholders (in particular players) and it is essential to take those into account.
The seminar will focus on this phenomenon related to financing of football clubs thanks to the participation of Spanish jurists and international experts in this field (see Programme).
A limited number of places will be reserved for students and alumni of the FIFA/CIES Sport Management Programme and of the FIFA Master.
Please send your applications to Désirée Garcia Cabello, CIES ([email protected]) by 30 April 2015.
