All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, Welcomes CIES / FIFA Master 12th Edition

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, was the venue for the first CIES/FIFA Master Humanities of Sport module field visit for the 2011-12 programme. The 12th edition class had the opportunity to tour the All England Club grounds, learn about the history and evolution of the Wimbledon Championships since the first tennis tournament in July 1877 and to visit the world famous No. 1 and Centre Courts.
The afternoon provided the chance to view the collection of exhibits and artefacts held in the excellent Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. The 12th edition class, who had started their Humanities of Sport module teaching at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture, De Montfort University, the week before the visit, also had the opportunity to learn more about the business and marketing aspects of the Wimbledon Championships in a series of presentations arranged by the All England Club.
The CIES and De Montfort University would both like to take this opportunity to thank the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for their help and support in providing such an enjoyable and informative day for the 12th edition postgraduates.
