FIFA Master 26th edition class arrive in England for official course opening events

The 26th edition of the FIFA Master is officially open following induction and welcome events hosted by England’s De Montfort University in Leicester.

The new class, which includes representatives from Egypt, Brazil, Uruguay, Italy, France, Morocco, Germany, USA, Papua New Guinea, Niger, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Madagascar, Liberia, Malaysia and China were warmly welcomed to Leicester for the start of their studies in the city.

FIFA Master Scientific Committee President, Prof. Thomas Probst, was joined by International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) Council of Foundation President, Mr Pierre Cornu, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Arts and Culture Prof. Shushma Patel (DMU) and CIES General Secretary Mr Vincent Schatzmann, along with Scientific Directors and Module Coordinators from De Montfort University (UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) for a busy day of induction sessions with the new postgraduates.   

This was the first-time members of the course Scientific Committee had met since it was announced earlier in the month that the FIFA Master had been ranked as the No.1 course in Europe for a record thirteenth time by the 2025 SportBusiness Postgraduate course rankings.

Endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the opening Humanities of Sport module is delivered by De Montfort University’s International Centre for Sports History and Culture. This will be followed by the second module in Sports Management held at the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milano and then finally, the class will move again for the Sports Law module held at the University of Neuchâtel Law Faculty in Switzerland. Overall co-ordination is provided by the CIES.

The official welcome event programme included an evening drinks reception held at the historic Trinity Chapel on the campus where the students were joined by De Montfort University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Katie Normington, and other senior DMU Executives.

The CIES, De Montfort University, SDA Bocconi School of Management and the University of Neuchâtel congratulate all members of the new 26th edition class on the gaining a place on the programme.
