FIFA Master Alumni - Where are they now? - Byrom Mee
Byrom Mee
Current position: Junior Medical Office Manager at FIFA
Year of graduation: 2023 (23rd Edition)
Nationality: British
What does your current role involve?
I work in FIFA’s Medical subdivision, where our team’s mission is to improve player health globally by setting standards in clinical care and governance, building a worldwide football medicine community, conducting and facilitating impactful research and education, and promoting equity and diversity in access to football medicine knowledge.
As the primary person responsible for project administration, I support the coordination of initiatives across our team to achieve this mission. This leads to varied work, such as collaborating with team members ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and other tournaments to help ensure participating national team and club doctors are adequately prepared and informed when it comes to tournament medical requirements.
The role also involves assisting with the planning and delivery of a number of other events, ranging from the FIFA Medical Conference where I acted as the first point of contact in FIFA Medical for participating Member Associations, to educational courses and workshops.
Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?
As someone who had not worked in the industry prior to the course, the FIFA Master provided the ideal foundation for a career in sport. Whether learning about the origins of modern sport in Leicester, analysing sports ecosystems in Milan, or unpacking complex legal cases in Neuchâtel, the course allowed me to leave feeling like I had developed a holistic understanding of sport. This was key in giving me the belief I was adequately prepared to take on a challenging position in sport upon graduating.
Furthermore, the Alumni network has proven invaluable. The FIFA Master has such a positive impact on people’s respective journeys that the network is something they actively want to engage with in my experience. This has been extremely beneficial when seeking advice from Alumni further along in their careers over the years. I look forward to doing the same in years to come!
What advice would you give to future students?
For future students, my advice would be to try your best to get to know all of your classmates. Each person has their own story and due to the cohort being so international each year, there is much to learn from each other.
When it comes to guest lecturers and industry professionals you meet during field visits, take the opportunity to learn as much as you can from them and to remain connected with the people that inspire you the most.
The FIFA Master is a truly unique course made special by the people you meet along the way. Enjoy every minute of it!
