FIFA Master Alumni - Where are they now? - Guglielmo Cammino
Guglielmo Cammino
Current Position: National Teams Area (Club Italia) and Italy Men’s U-17 Team Manager - Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC)
Year of graduation: 2015 (15th Edition)
Nationality: Italian
What does your current role involve?
Before joining the Italian Football Association (FIGC), I built my professional foundation in the world of major sporting events, working on the organisation of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome and later at UEFA EURO 2016 in France. Those early experiences gave me a practical, hands-on understanding of what it takes to deliver top-level sporting competitions, ranging from operations and logistics to stakeholder management under real-time pressure. That grounding proved to be an ideal springboard when I later moved into my current role within the Federation.
Today, I work within the secretariat of Italy National Teams, where I support the organisation of national team activity and help ensure that the Team Services required by each squad are delivered to the highest standard. Alongside this, I serve as Team Manager of the Italy Under-17 national team - and we won the European Championship title in 2026 — a milestone I am particularly proud to have contributed to and having been part of. It would be incredible to participate in the FIFA U17 World Cup that will be staged in Qatar at the end of the year (November/December).
A further strand of my responsibilities involves coordinating the secretariat for overseas scouting, where we work to identify Italian-eligible players competing abroad, making sure that no talent within the wider Italian football community goes unnoticed.
Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?
The FIFA Master was a genuine cornerstone in my career. It allowed me to make a real career switch, moving from an international consulting company into the sports industry, and it is a transition I would not have been able to make with the same confidence otherwise. Alongside that, I have always valued the extraordinary international network the Master has allowed me to build over the years - a network that continues to open doors and offer new perspectives long after graduation.
If I had to single out one further contribution the FIFA Master made to my career, it would be the holistic view it gave me of the sports industry as a whole. The programme's structure, spanning the humanities, management and law, delivered across three different countries - pushed me to look beyond my own area of interest and understand how the different pillars of sport connect with one another: governance, commercial strategy, legal frameworks, and the human and cultural dimension that ties everything together. That broader perspective did more than simply expand my knowledge base; it helped me understand, with far greater clarity, what I truly wanted to do within this industry. Rather than narrowing my options, the FIFA Master opened my eyes to the full range of career paths available in sport and gave me the confidence to pursue the one that felt right for me, and that was working within sports events, supporting the organization and activity of our national teams.
What advice would you give to future students?
My advice is simple, even if it isn't always easy to put into practice: goals are achieved through hard work, not through shortcuts. The FIFA Master opens doors, but it is the effort you put in afterwards - the willingness to start from modest positions, to learn on the job, and to keep showing up - that ultimately determines where you end up.
Alongside that, I would encourage future students to genuinely listen to themselves. It might sound like a catch phrase, but I believe it is a lesson I learnt during the years. It is tempting, especially early in a career, to chase the roles that look the most prestigious on paper. My own experience has taught me that the most rewarding path is the one that aligns with what you truly feel drawn to, even if it takes longer to get there. Follow that instinct, put in the work, and the rest tends to follow.
