Ludovica Giorgetti
Current Position: HSE Manager in Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026
Year of graduation: 2024 (24th Edition)
Nationality: Italian
What does your current role involve?
Following the completion of my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, I dedicated 10 years to the automation industry. My most recent five-year tenure (2018–2023) before my current job involved leading the Quality & Health and Safety function for a major organization, where I successfully implemented a certified Management System at corporate and local levels, managed organizational change, and served as the HSE & Quality Management Leader for the South-West European Region. This strategic role also included acting as an Internal Auditor for the Group worldwide.
Complementing my professional track record, I still hold a concurrent leadership role as the General Secretary and Vice President of the Italian Lacrosse Division (since 2018), reflecting my capacity for sustained commitment and management beyond the corporate environment.
I currently serve as the HSE Manager for the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee, managing Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across multiple key venues (especially Milano Speed Skating Arena and Milano Ice Hockey Arena 2). A central component of my role is comprehensive contractor management, which involves verifying H&S requirements in contracts, conducting on-site inspections and serving as the primary liaison between contractors and the appointed Directors of Works. I maintain project ownership for the development and implementation of the Single Access Pass (SAP) tool, managing access requirements for all workforce personnel, contractors and partners. Additionally, I define the emergency plan strategy, manage relations with local administrative bodies, and collaborate with Functional Areas to define venue flows. My responsibilities culminate in full operational management during event phases, including the direct coordination of the stewards service, daily briefings, and full flow, emergency and security management for both the Field of Play and spectator areas.
Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?
The FIFA Master course provided a truly comprehensive foundation that significantly enhanced my capacity in navigating the complex world of major sports organizations. The programme's greatest contribution was offering a full-spectrum overview and understanding of the sports organization ecosystem, spanning a wide variety of levels. Crucially, the course equipped me with the analytical tools necessary to appreciate the inherent complexities of the sports industry. It reinforced the understanding that successful operations require meticulous, detailed preparation, a concept I apply daily in risk assessment and planning for major events, but also demanding a high degree of readiness and operational agility to effectively manage risks, crises and the unexpected events that are endemic to live sports and large-scale delivery.
What advice would you give to future students?
My strongest advice for future students is to cultivate an attitude of openness to new perspectives. While it's certainly beneficial to enter the programme with a clear mind and specific career goals, the true beauty and power of the FIFA Master lies in its dynamic, international environment and the wide variety of topics it offers. Be receptive in every lecture, engage deeply in conversations and discussions with your classmates, who bring unparalleled global experience, and be ready to absorb everything the course provides. This willingness to learn and see things differently may lead you to change your mind about your professional trajectory or discover a passion you never knew you had.
