Nabor García

Current position: FIFA Insights and Analytics Coordinator

Year of graduation: 2022 (22nd edition)

Nationalities: Chilean / Spanish

What does your current role involve?

I’m currently working in the Business Intelligence subdivision at FIFA. The role of the team is to support the Commercial division and wider FIFA to take informed and data-driven decisions by being the centre of data and insights of the company.

Our key areas of expertise are Market and Consumer Research, where we conduct our own research for fan insights as well as using external platforms for a better understanding of their behaviours. Insights, is where we run analysis ranging from audience and engagement to commercial assessments for FIFA tournaments. And finally, Digital Analytics, is mainly focused on the performance of FIFA’s digital platforms and valuations of digital activations.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

I didn’t have any working experience in sport before joining the FIFA Master so it was my first immersion into the sports industry and business. The course opened my mind in terms of what the sports industry is, and not only concerning football, but across different disciplines, sports and entities.

The international characteristics of the FIFA Master is something I also like to highlight as a key component, and especially if you are aiming to work for an international organisation. I think the FIFA Master gives you the proper tools and foundation to understand how to interact and develop yourself properly in these kinds of environments.

Finally, I would say the network that is created after completing the course is one of the key assets of this programme. The level of collaboration and commitment that you see from FIFA Master Alumni (FMA) with any kind of support you might need is incredible and it’s something you can always rely on at a professional level.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

I would tell them to enjoy every single second of the course, both in class and outside the class. I think there is no comparable experience to the FIFA Master, in the sense of having such a diverse and international group put together, having a shared love for sports at the centre of it.

Enjoy the classes, lecturers and field visits, but most importantly, enjoy the people you’ll meet throughout the journey. You will never forget those night outs, dinners and football matches together.
