Nationality: Turkish

What does your current role involve?

I work as a play-by-play sports commentator, primarily covering volleyball matches in the Turkish Super League and CEV competitions, alongside a variety of other sports. Through national broadcasters and international platforms, my commentary reaches millions of spectators, combining real-time analysis with storytelling and contextual insight. In addition to my media work, I also serve as a EuroLeague Basketball Delegate, contributing to game-day operations and acting as a liaison between league officials, clubs, broadcasters and on-site stakeholders. This role has strengthened my understanding of event operations, governance and the behind-the-scenes structures that support elite competitions.

In parallel to this, I work as a sports marketing consultant, supporting clubs, federations and brands with content strategy, digital storytelling and fan engagement initiatives. I am also a Director at VolleyVoice, an accessible sports initiative which provides live audio-descriptive commentary for visually impaired volleyball fans, enabling them to experience matches in real time inside the arena and helping create more inclusive sporting environments.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

The greatest impact of the FIFA Master for me was a fundamental shift in perspective. It enabled me to see sport not only as a passion-driven field, but as a complex international system shaped by governance, culture, economics and management.

Studying sports management and culture across three different countries broadened my understanding of how sport operates globally. This perspective directly influenced my career choices after the FIFA Master. While I continued my work in broadcasting, I also expanded into sports management and consulting roles, applying the knowledge I gained to agency work, strategic projects and stakeholder-driven initiatives. Today, this combination allows me to operate across media, marketing and sport management, while also contributing to projects with social impact, such as VolleyVoice.

The FIFA Master Alumni network also continues to be an important part of my professional journey, offering long-term relationships, collaboration opportunities and a truly global point of reference.

What advice would you give to future students?

First, embrace the FIFA Master as a unique human experience. It brings together people of different ages, cultures and professional backgrounds, united by a shared passion for sport. In many ways, it reflects what sport itself does best - creating meaningful connections beyond borders. Be fully present and make the most of every moment.

Second, remain open to learning from everywhere. Some of the most valuable insights may come from a lecture with a world-class professor, while others may emerge from conversations with classmates who will become lifelong friends. Never underestimate the power of building meaningful relationships.

Finally, trust your own path. Careers in sport are rarely linear, and it can take time to understand what truly motivates you. Allow yourself that time, stay curious and remember to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
