Current Position: Operations Manager-Grenada Football Association (GFA)

Year of graduation: 2023 (23rd Edition)

Nationality:  Grenadian

What does your current role involve?

My portfolio at the Grenada Football Association as Operations Manager is very diverse. I am responsible for overseeing, coordinating and managing projects such as the FIFA Arena Project and FIFA Forward initiative which are key to our development projects. I am also responsible for some human resources functions. In addition, I plan and execute some of our main events, such as the competition awards ceremony and club workshops. I also develop strategies to build and maintain stakeholder relationships, especially through sponsorships. I facilitate some stakeholder coordination and relationship management by being in communication with clubs, coaches, referees, sponsors, government bodies and international organizations. I also facilitate some administrative oversight by managing documentation, ensuring that our stakeholders are compliant and processes are adhered to internally. This also includes working with clubs, players and officials.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

The FIFA Master gives you a key opportunity to broaden your knowledge base and offers strategic opportunities to work with some of the most successful organizations. The Programme has helped me to be successful in my current profession where I serve as the Operations Manager at the GFA.

The entire Sport Management module we studied at SDA Bocconi in Milan was my favourite part of the FIFA Master.  I greatly appreciated the opportunity to study areas such as Human Resource Management, Sports Marketing, Event Planning and Management. It allowed me to broaden my knowledge and to gain invaluable insights into the sporting world. Today, I apply this not only in my job, but also in my personal life. This has allowed me to be versatile, innovative and forward thinking.

The impact of the FIFA Master also encourages me to constantly find ways to continue developing myself to be prepared for the next opportunity.

What advice would you give to future students?

Wow! As someone coming from Grenada, an island of 100,000 people, and to experience such diverse cultures for the first time, I’d say be open minded, be proactive, ask questions, have fun and be prepared for a life changing experience through the FIFA Master programme.  Take pictures to create memories, because the time goes by quickly!
