FIFA President Gianni Infantino named as FIFA Master 25th edition Class Patron

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) and the FIFA Master Scientific Committee are proud to announce FIFA President Gianni Infantino as the Patron of the 25th anniversary edition of the FIFA Master – International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport.
Mr. Infantino’s relationship with the FIFA Master dates back to the course's very inception. Born in Brig (Switzerland), Mr. Infantino studied law at the University of Fribourg. After completing his studies, his first roles were as Legal Advisor and General Secretary of the CIES here in Neuchâtel. This latter position would involve him working closely with the then CIES President, Prof. Jean-Louis Juvet, in helping to create the FIFA Master programme. Without this vital and ground-breaking work, the FIFA Master would not have been born and the lives of so many of our graduates around the world would be very different.
In 2000, Mr. Infantino joined UEFA to work in their legal department eventually rising to become Director of UEFA Legal Affairs. In 2007, he became Deputy Secretary General and then Secretary General in 2009.
A key member of the FIFA Reform Committee, on 26 October 2015 he received the backing of the UEFA Executive Committee to stand for the position of FIFA President during the 2016 FIFA Extraordinary Congress. On the same day, he confirmed his candidacy and was elected as FIFA President in February 2016.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Infantino for accepting the invitation to become FIFA Master 25th edition Patron. As the FIFA Master celebrates 25 years of excellence in international sport business education, Mr. Infantino’s patronage honours the course’s rich legacy and continued impact. We are grateful for his continued support and proud to celebrate this milestone together alongside our students and alumni.
