02 October 2025

The Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PILLAI), CIES's partner in India, celebrated the latest graduates from the PILLAI/FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sports Management at a ceremony held on its Mumbai campus.

Students from the 6th edition of the Programme received their diplomas after ten months of study. For some of them it was an opportunity to discover the general principles of sports law, management, marketing/sponsorship, communication, finance and event management. For others, already active in sports organisations, the aim was to deepen their knowledge in the field or to explore new developments in a constantly changing sector.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Daphne Pillai, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Mahatma Education Society and co-founder of the PILLAI Group of Institutions; Franav Pillai, Director of the PILLAI/FIFA/CIES International Programme; Celina Joy, Academic Coordinator of the Programme; Padmakshan Padmanabhan, Administrative Coordinator of the Programme; Shaji Prabhakaran, AFC Executive Committee Member and CIES Coordinator in India; and Vincent Monnier, Head of the FIFA/CIES International University Network.

The speakers' speeches highlighted the importance of the Programme in India, its contribution to the careers of former students, their many professional successes, the numerous challenges facing contemporary sports managers, and the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence in sports management and academia.

PILLAI also welcomed the students of the new edition of the programme, who immediately demonstrated their motivation and willingness to share their knowledge and experiences in class.

We extend our congratulations to the latest graduates and also to the new participants. Their enthusiasm is a great source of satisfaction for CIES and the PILLAI team members, who continue to do a remarkable job in offering the very best to the students of the FIFA/CIES Network Programme in India
