Memorable Wimbledon Visit for FIFA Master 15th Edition Class

29 September 2014

The world famous All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, was the venue for the first field visit by the 15th edition of the FIFA Master class.

During a busy programme for the day, the 32 international postgraduates had the opportunity to tour the All England Club grounds, learn about the history and evolution of the Wimbledon Championships and also view the iconic No. 1 and Centre Courts. In addition, the day was made particularly memorable thanks to the sight of Great Britain’s Andy Murray practicing on the outside courts.

The afternoon provided the chance to tour the collection of exhibits held in the state-of-the-art Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. The 15th edition class, who have now started their studies for the first Humanities of Sport module at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture, De Montfort University, were also able to learn about the business and marketing aspects of the Wimbledon Championships in a series of presentations by the All England Club.

James Panter who arranged the visit and is the FIFA Master Humanities of Sport Module Co-ordinator said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for such an enjoyable and informative day for the new 15th edition class”.
