Puerto Rico celebrates its new graduates

The UPRM/FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sports Management, based at the Mayagüez campus (Puerto Rico), celebrated the graduation of its fifth cohort of students.

After studying for six months and presenting their group project on aspects of local sport, the students of the fifth cohort of the UPRM/FIFA/CIES International University Network Programme received their diplomas from Miguel Muñoz, acting rector of UPRM, and Francisco Rubio, CIES Scientific Coordinator.

During the ceremony, David Muñoz, Director of the Programme, said, “We are absolutely delighted to have successfully guided this cohort to completion. After six months of study and the presentation of a group project on a topic specific to national sport, along with realistic and actionable recommendations, our students are now better equipped to understand the environment in which a sports organisation must operate. It is now up to them to set themselves objectives and put them into practice”.

For his part, Miguel Muñoz commented, “It is an honour for me to share this moment with you, in the presence of a group of students who are now set to make a difference. Indeed, the work you carry out as sports managers is essential for training new generations of athletes across various disciplines. Your contribution will be vital within the various communities of Puerto Rico.”

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Cristina Pagán Torres, a journalist and star presenter at Tele Once, added, “For the first time, I have had the opportunity to study at this institution, which is so important to the country. As the oldest in the group, I am delighted to see our young people being trained and flourishing in sport. Being here with my classmates is a real source of satisfaction. I am someone who loves to learn constantly. I have taken away many lessons from this educational experience that I will be able to apply throughout my life”.
