Rio Olympic Games Final for "FIFA Master" Graduate Emma Twigg

CIES, the representatives of the “FIFA Master” partner universities and course alumni watched with huge pride as 15th edition graduate, Emma Twigg, competed in the Final of the Women’s Single Sculls event at the Rio Olympic Games at the weekend.
Emma, who is from New Zealand and graduated from the “FIFA Master” in 2015, produced some superb performances during the Olympic Heats as she qualified for the Final held on the spectacular course located at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in the heart of Rio de Janeiro.
Combining both her studies for the “FIFA Master” course and at the same time maintain her fitness and training schedule to ensure qualification for the Rio Olympic Games was an incredible achievement for Emma.
In what was a fiercely competitive final and despite showing tremendous speed throughout her race, Emma narrowly finished just outside the medal positions. However, the result did not matter. Emma’s commitment to her “FIFA Master” studies, extraordinary hard work in simply qualifying for the Rio Olympic Games and then reaching the final of her event had already made Emma a champion in the eyes of her classmates who had been supporting her every step of the way on this incredible journey
Emma – we are so proud of what you have achieved over the past 18 months and we all send our congratulations to you in Rio.
