Spain: On the way to the 6th edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme

Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid and the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) have officially launched the registration process for the sixth edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management. Classes will start on 16 October.
Over 190 students from different sporting and professional horizons have already completed this Programme. Created in cooperation with FIFA, the programme is open to all sporting practices and organisations. It offers training in the six essential fields of communication, law, marketing/sponsorship, management, finance and sport event management.
The main objective of the Programme is to give students a clear vision of modern sport management and to allow them to acquire tools and knowledge which are immediately applicable in their daily sport environment.
As Santiago García Mateo Sagasta (2014) puts it: “The vast majority of the teachers offer relevant insight into sport and its latest developments. The classes lend a new perspective which often changes the perception we have of many issues related to sport.”
For his part, another alumnus Juan Ruiz (2013) considers that those who want to devote their careers to sport management should attend the Programme: « This course is based on an academic programme which is both demanding and qualitative. It offers a pleasant environment and close cooperation with the organisers which makes it a gratifying experience. »
CIES is delighted with the good reputation enjoyed by the Programme in Spain and, beyond that, with the excellent cooperation developed with URJC and t RFEF over the years, in particular through organisation of seminars and conferences on various aspects of sport and of football in particular.
