Venezuela: Success for the Conference on top-level sport
The conference organised jointly in Caracas by Gerencia Deportiva Internacional (GDI), the FIFA/CIES Programme sponsor in Venezuela, and CIES on issues related to sports management, met with great success.
More than 170 participants attended the 2nd International Conference on top-level sport organised in the district of the Venezuelan capital. Among them were representatives from the Venezuelan Ministry of Sports, the municipality of Caracas, the National Olympic Committee and Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET), the academic partner of CIES in Venezuela.
The two speakers addressed topics related to realities and developments in South American sport. Guillermo Ricaldoni, Marketing and Commercial Director for Sports and Entertainment (IMG Argentina), focused on the value of sports brands, while Raffaele Poli, Head of the CIES Sports Observatory, explored the theme of migration of South American and Venezuelan players to Europe, emphasising the increasingly important role of business intelligence in modern sport management.
GDI President Ingrid Hernández declared: “This conference marks the beginning of a new development of CIES training activities in Venezuela in cooperation with GDI and with the academic support of UNIMET. The presentations of both speakers showed the multiple facets that sport manager training can and must cover in our country”.
