Everyone connected with the FIFA Master course was thrilled to see 2015 course graduate, Emma Twigg, win a silver medal in the Women’s Single Sculls Olympic rowing final held on Saturday morning. Emma powered to her medal at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium in a time of 7:19.14.
Competing in her fifth Olympic Games, a delighted Emma said after the race, “This week has been really special because I've put the handbrakes on it, knowing it's going to be my last Olympics. So, to have just soaked up all the unique thigs about the Games - it probably hasn't sunk in that it's all over."
"I can be proud that I emptied the tank and a silver medal is phenomenal”.
Her Paris 2024 silver follows a gold medal achieved at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the same event.
Emma, who is part of the New Zealand Olympic Team, was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday and Platinum Jubilee Honours for services to rowing. She is also the first FIFA Master course graduate to return as a Class Patron, a role which she performed for the 22nd FIFA Master class during their graduation ceremony in July 2022.
Huge congratulations, Emma, from the CIES, De Montfort University, SDA Bocconi School of Management, the University of Neuchâtel and the FMA Alumni Association on your Paris 2024 Olympic silver medal. You are a true Olympian and we are all extremely proud of you.
