What does your current role involve?

After graduation from the FIFA Master, I joined the Global Football Development Division at FIFA, which was previously called the Technical Develepment Division when I first arrived. Our aim is to raise the standards of the game itself through a wide range of dedicated and tailor made programmes linked to all aspects of the sport. This includes, but is not limited to, the Talent Development Scheme, which touches upon the elite side of the game, to Technical Leadership, which has the aim to upskill and bring leadership training to those in decision making positions within technical departments at Member Associations.

My current role is essentially being the product owner for the technology we use throughout the Division. The aim is to successfully implement this technology across all the various departments, and upskilling both our HQ and field team members across the world to use these apps and tools for their decision-making processes.

Which aspects of the FIFA Master course have helped you most in your career?

Adaptability has been the most crucial skill I gained from the FIFA Master. The programme's multidisciplinary nature taught me to seamlessly switch between management, legal and humanities aspects of sport. Studying at three different universities in England, Italy and Switzerland exposed me to varied teaching styles and cultural environments, enhancing my flexibility and resilience. This adaptability has been essential in navigating the dynamic and fast-paced football industry I now find myself working in.

The diversity of thought and ideas within my FIFA Master class cohort also improved my ability to work effectively with international teams, a vital skill in today’s global sports landscape. Now that I am working in an environment which couldn’t be any more international as we develop football globally, these skills have been indispensable in my career.

What advice would you give to future students on the course?

Future students should fully embrace the diverse learning opportunities the FIFA Master offers. Engage actively in coursework, discussions and cultural experiences at each institution you will study at. Networking is crucial too in build strong relationships you’re your peers, course lecturers and industry professionals. Stay curious and adaptable, as the sports industry is ever-changing. Leverage the extensive alumni network for guidance and opportunities too. Finally, remember that the FIFA Master is more than a degree. It provides you with the skills, network and knowledge to build a global career in sport. Make the most of it, and you'll be well-prepared for success!
