Launch of the second edition of the FIFA/CIES International Programme in Saudi Arabia
The second edition of the FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sport Management recently got underway in Saudi Arabia. It is organised by King Saud University, in cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).
The application process proved highly successful, with nearly 3,500 applications received. Forty-eight students were selected to join the Programme and undertake 180 hours of tuition in the key areas of management, communication, law, finance, event management and marketing/sponsorship. The Programme combines theoretical and practical activities, as well as field trips and lectures providing opportunities to engage with internationally renowned experts. Upon completion of their studies, students must present a group project addressing specific issues and challenges relating to the national and regional sports sector.
The second edition offers courses in two different cities. In Riyadh, the Programme is taught in Arabic, whilst in Jeddah it is proposed in English. This expansion aims to provide more opportunities for professionals and those interested in the sports sector, enabling them to benefit from a high-quality educational experience.
The launch of this second FIFA/CIES International Programme demonstrates the commitment of KSU and its partners in developing specialised human capital and training a new generation of professionals capable of leading and advancing the sporting ecosystem. For KSU, this Programme also follows on from the rapid transformation of the sports sector and supports the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to develop the sports industry and strengthen its impact at both local and international levels.
